Sleep & Psychology: SleePsych

Colorado Sleep Center of the Rockies is pleased to offer a holistic, multidisciplinary treatment team (SleePsych) for the comprehensive psychological care and treatment of patients with sleep disorders and sleep maintenance complaints.  It is the vision of SleePsych to advance the overall condition of the patient’s psychological functioning when it comes to assessing and treating sleep difficulties.

Our SleePsych team is comprised of licensed psychologists and treatment therapists who assist in a variety of ways in treating the patient suffering from sleep difficulties, including insomnia. These difficulties may include problems initiating, as well as maintaining sleep, and waking fresh and rested.

Conversations with the patient (as well as with family members when needed) during the initial clinic consultation assesses psychological issues as they may impact one’s quality of sleep.

Psychoemotional consultation, psychoeducation, and followup care is offered in order to maximize and maintain sleep improvement.  SleePsych also offers psychodiagnostic assessment tools as medically indicated in order to evaluate psychological conditions which may contribute to sleep dysfunction.  SleePsych works closely with your physician to maximize treatment success in improving your quality of sleep.  Underlying psychological issues which affect quality of sleep efficiency may include mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and stress-related worries.  Left untreated, individuals often develop ineffective coping strategies which interfere with maximally restful sleep practices.

SleePsych offers such modalities as anxiety diminishment techniques, relaxation/visualization strategies, sleep hygiene interventions, as well as additional cognitive-behavioral and psychotherapeutic methods.  Other therapies available in the multidisciplinary treatment approach at SLEEPSYCH may include neuromuscular massage or biofeedback consultations.

Yourability to sleep well is important to us, and we look forward to assisting you in improving your life.
